The Mid-Atlantic Patient Safety Center (MPSC) is a leader in healthcare safety and quality improvement.
We bring together hospitals, health systems, industry partners and care providers across the continuum to share knowledge, implement best practices, and drive measurable improvements in patient safety.
With over 50-member healthcare organizations, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, home care agencies, rehabilitation centers, physician practices, and specialty hospitals—MPSC serves as a collaborative hub for advancing safety initiatives.
And new this year, MPSC’s Council of Industry Partners offers a strategic new initiative designed to bring together industry innovators, device manufacturers, and healthcare suppliers with hospital leaders to co-develop real solutions that advance patient safety across Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic region.

Featured Initiatives
Discover key programs and collaborations driving measurable improvements in patient safety and healthcare quality. Each initiative reflects MPSC’s commitment to reducing harm, fostering innovation, and supporting safer care across the region.

Perinatal Debriefing Initiative
This 18-month initiative supports hospitals in implementing structured, post-fall debriefs using an evidence-based model to uncover root causes and prevent future incidents. MPSC provides training, shared learning forums, and tailored guidance to help organizations reduce the frequency and severity of patient falls.

Reducing the Number and Severity
of Patient Falls
Through a collaborative, data-driven approach, participating hospitals work with MPSC to implement post-fall debriefing protocols, analyze trends, and improve unit-level practices. The initiative aims to reduce fall-related harm by identifying risk factors, empowering frontline teams, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Reducing Medication Errors in
Labor and Delivery
Launching in late 2025, this initiative aims to reduce adverse medication events during labor and delivery. MPSC will work with care teams to improve medication safety processes, standardize protocols, and strengthen communication between providers. Details will be shared as the initiative progresses.
